Men’s Lacrosse Falls to Mariners in Final Conference Game of Regular Season

Waterville, Maine – Men's Lacrosse would host Maine Maritime Academy in the Terriers final North Atlantic Conference contest of the regular season but would be defeated by the Mariners by a score of 9-21 on Wednesday, April 23rd. Despite the loss, Timothy Worster would tie Colby Blondin (18') as the Terriers all-time points leader with 122 career points, finishing the contest with a hat-trick and one assist.

Maine Maritime: Overall (8-5), NAC (5-0) 

How it Happened: 

  • The Terriers would jump out to an early lead, with Connor Hamilton scoring off a Jack Morrill assist to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead. 

  • The Mariners would respond with a scoring run midway through the quarter,  

  • But the Terriers would cut into the Mariners late in the quarter, Owen Lyons scoring off a Worster assist, and Nicholas Pike capitalizing on a man-up opportunity (O. Lyons assist) to make it a 3-6 game heading into the second quarter. 

  • Dustyn Hinkley would keep the momentum going for the Terriers in the second half, finding the back of the net off O. Lyons' second assist of the match. 

  • O. Lyons and Worster would each score unassisted goals to close the first half, but the Terriers would trail 6-9 heading into the third period. 

  • Worster would score his second goal of the match off a Wyatt Lyons assist to open the second half. 

  • Morill and Worster (Conor Hamilton assist) would each score midway through the third, but after a strong offensive quarter from the Mariners, the Terriers would find themselves down 9-14 heading into the fourth quarter. 

  • The Terriers would try to create momentum with scoring opportunities in the fourth quarter, but the Mariners would ultimately control the remainder of the match and would hand the Terriers a 9-21 loss in their final North Atlantic Conference match of the regular season.

What's Next: 

Despite the loss to the Mariners, the Terriers will enter the 2025 North Atlantic Conference tournament as the #3 seed, traveling to Castine, Maine on Saturday, May 3rd, to take on the #2 seed SUNY Delhi Broncos in the semifinal round. Opening face-off is still TBA.
