Men’s Lacrosse Unable to Complete Comeback Against Salem State

Salem, MA Jack Morrill and Timothy Worster each finished with a hat-trick in a non-conference match up against the Salem State University, but it wouldn't be enough as the Terriers would fall short to the Vikings by a score of 13-14 on Wednesday, April 2nd.

How it Happened:

  • The Terriers would jump out to an early lead in the first, with Worster finding the back of the net minutes into the quarter.

  • Salem State would find an answer shortly after, but the Terriers would continue to push the pace with Owen Lyons (2) and Morrill (1) combining for three goals midway through the quarter to put the Terriers ahead 4-1.

  • But Salem State would continue to answer back, closing the quarter with four goals to put the Terriers down 4-5 heading into the 2nd quarter.

  • Morill and Dustyn Hinkley would score the Terriers two goals in the second, but the Terriers would find themselves down 6-10 at the half after a late offensive run from the Vikings.

  • The Terriers would continue to chip away at the deficit by scoring early goals in the third, with a goal from Morrill and Worster (Connor Hamilton assist) to put the Terriers down just two goals.

  • Hinkley would score his second goal of the game (Connor Hamilton assist) near the end of the third, but two late goals from the Vikings would put the Terriers down 9-12 heading into the fourth quarter.

  • The Terriers would reclaim the momentum of the match early in the fourth quarter, with Hunter Simpson, Hamilton (Hinkley assist), and Worster (Kyle Van Doren-Crooker assist) each scoring within minutes apart from each other to knot the game at 12-12.

  • But Salem State would respond once again midway through the fourth, scoring two goals to put the Terriers down 12-14 with less than five minutes to play.

  • Nicholas Pike would give the Terriers life in the final minutes with a late goal off a Van Doren-Crooker assist, but the Terriers would ultimately fall short and would be defeated by a final score of 13-14.
