Worster’s Late Goal Leads Men’s Lacrosse to Comeback Win Over Regis College

Weston, MA – Timothy Worster (4) and Wyatt Lyons (3) would combine for 7 goals in Men's Lacrosse comeback win over the Regis College Pride on Wednesday, March 26th.  
 

How it Happened: 

  • Regis College would score the game's opening goal midway through the first quarter. 

  • But the Terriers would quickly respond with a goal from Wyatt Lyons, assisted by Owen Lyons to tie the game at 1-1. 

  • The Pride would pick up the pace offensively to close the half, scoring two goals to put the Terriers down 3-1 after fifteen minutes of play. 

  • The Pride would open the second quarter with a man-up goal, but the Terriers would chip away at the deficit with a man-up goal from W. Lyons, assisted by Connor Hamilton

  • But the Pride would continue to pressure the Terriers, scoring two late goals in the second to put the Terriers down 2-6 at the half. 

  • O. Lyons would open the second half with a quick goal assisted by Worster, but the Pride would continue to find answers to the Terriers' offense with a goal of their own shortly after. 

  • Regis would finish the third quarter scoring three additional goals, but the Terriers would gain momentum by cutting into the Pride's lead, closing the quarter with goals from Worster, Hunter Simpson, and W. Lyons (O. Lyons assist) to make it a four-goal game heading into the fourth quarter.

  • Worster would put the Terriers within reach early in the fourth, scoring two back-to-back goals assisted by O. Lyons to cut the Pride's lead to just two goals. 

  • The Pride would score midway through the third to put the Terriers down three goals with less than eight minutes to play. 

  • But the Terriers refused to give up and would flip the entire momentum of the game, with Jack Morrill (2) and Kyle Van Doren-Crooker (1) combining for three goals within two minutes of each other to tie the game at 11-11 late in the fourth. 

  • Both teams would have multiple scoring opportunities in the final minutes of the game, but Worster would break the tie minutes later, finding the back of the net to put the Terriers up 12-11 in the final minutes of the quarter. 

  • After being down by four goals at the half, the Terriers would ultimately hold on to complete the comeback in thrilling fashion to hand the Pride a 12-11 loss on the road.

What's Next: 

  • The Terriers will return to action on Saturday, March 29th, traveling to Cobleskill, New York, to take on the SUNY Cobleskill Fighting Tigers in their first North Atlantic Conference match of the season. Game time is scheduled for noon.
