2/9/2025 10:35:00 AM

Milton, MA - Men's Ice Hockey opened up their weekend road trip with a dominant 7-2 win against the Curry College Colonels on Saturday, February 8th, 2025.

Thomas College: 9-8-1

How it Happened:
  • From the opening faceoff the Terriers looked to control the game, making it known early with several shots on goal.
  • The Terriers spent the majority of the first period in the Colonels end, but goaltender Andrew Ladd was outstanding in net and the teams went to the locker room tied 0-0.
  • The second period started off in similar fashion, however it was the Colonels that got on the scoreboard first, finding the net on a bounce to give them a 1-0 lead.
  • It didn't take the Terriers long to respond, as Tyler Gay ripped a shot past Ladd from a tough angle to make it 1-1.
  • A hit by the Colonels minutes later gave the Terriers a five minute power-play, providing an huge opportunity to take the lead.
  • Jack Perron got things rolling with a redirected shot that beat Ladd to take a 2-1 lead.
  • DJ Cagnina made it 3-1 just minutes later and before the power-play was up, Cagnina struck again to make the score 4-1.
  • Curry did keep fighting and a brief lapse led to a goal making the score 4-2, which is how the period ended.
  • It didn't take long for the score to change early in the third, as the Terriers perfectly executed a set play from their own zone that set up a pass from Perron to Quinn Hawley making it 5-2.
  • Joe Fischetto added a goal as he and Cagnina created a two-on-one opportunity.
  • When the Colonels defense attempted to cover Cagnina, Fischetto snapped a shot past Ladd to make it 7-2.
  • The Terriers walked away with a very disciplined 7-2 victory.
