Waterville, ME - Men's Basketball hosted Maine Maritime Academy in a North Atlantic Conference match up on Saturday, December 6th, earning a thrilling 59-58 victory over the Mariners. Jayden Desimone delivered the game-winning moment, drilling a dagger three-pointer with less than 10 seconds remaining to secure the win.

How it Happened:

  • But quick buckets from Isiah Corson, Yasmo Mohamud, and Payton Mitchell minutes later would give the Terriers a 7-6 lead.
  • The Terriers and the Mariners would continue to trade points midway through the tightly contested 1st half.
  • Mitchell, Nate Hebert, and Spencer Miniahan would help keep the momentum in the hands of the Terriers late in the first half, each contributing in an 8-2 run to extend the lead to twelve points.
  • Mohamud and TJ Blackmon would close out the 1st half with 7 combined points, but a small scoring run by the Mariners would cut the Terriers lead to just 4 points heading into the half.
  • The Terriers would extend their lead to 8 points early in the 2nd half with quick buckets from Blackmon and Mohamud.
  • MMA would continue to battle back minutes later by cutting into their deficit, but a made jumper by Mitchell would help maintain the Terriers lead.
  • The Mariners would slow down the Terriers offense midway through the 2nd half, reclaiming the lead to put the Terriers down 47-49.
  • Both teams would continue to battle for the lead in the final minutes of regulation, but the Mariners would hold a 2 point lead in the final minute of the game.
  • But the Terriers would find a gritty response with 9 seconds to play, with Jayden Desimone knocking down a dagger three-pointer to put the Terriers up 1 point with 4.9 seconds remaining.
  • MMA would have one final chance to respond, but strong defense from the Terriers would keep them off of the board, securing a thrilling 59-58 North Altantic Conference win over the Mariners.
