Bangor, ME – Field Hockey fell in the 2025 Central Maine Collegiate Field Hockey Conference Championship Game against the Husson University Eagles on Sunday, October 9
th, 2025. The final score was 2-3 in overtime.
How it Happened:
- The Terriers started slow but soon gained momentum seven minutes in.
- Several shots on goal from Samantha Thebarge and Paige Gilbert forced good saves from the Eagle goalkeeper.
- The Terriers earned their next chance in the final few seconds of the first quarter from a penalty corner.
- Leah Knight's shot on goal required a defensive save to be kept out, keeping things scoreless headed into the second quarter.
- Three minutes into the second quarter Maci Freeman scored a solo goal to give the Terriers an important 1-0 lead.
- The Terrier defense held strong for much of the first half, only allowing one shot on goal that required a save from Eliya Drummond.
- Two minutes into the second half Kara Richards was able to convert a penalty stroke to double the Terrier lead.
- The Eagles soon bounced back with two shots on goal, with the rebound falling to an Eagle player, who scored to make it 2-1.
- Shots from Richards and Thebarge were both blocked with two minutes remaining in the quarter, and the Terriers took their one goal lead into the fourth.
- Just 37 seconds into the fourth quarter Drummond made another important save from a penalty corner, but another rebound saw the Eagles score again, making it 2-2.
- The final chance of regulation for the Terriers came three minutes into the fourth quarter, with a shot from Richards forcing another save from the Eagle goalkeeper.

- Seven minutes into the overtime period the Eagles scored, handing the Terriers a 2-3 loss.
- Despite the loss the Terriers had their best season in program history, finishing 14-6 overall, with wins against several talented programs.
