Hallowell, ME - Men's Ice Hockey took on the SUNY Jefferson Cannoneers at the Thomas College Ice Vault on Friday, October 31st, 2025. Despite a late comeback bid, the Terriers fell to a strong squad by a score of 2-3.
How it Happened:
- The Terriers started the game off well, earning a few good looks on the Cannoneer net early on.
- Matt D'Ortona was able to make some excellent saves in the first period to keep things tied.
- Both teams went into the second period tied 0-0, with both teams looking evenly matched with 13 shots on goal each.
- Less than a minute into the second period the Cannoneers took the lead on a close-range shot.
- The Terriers fired back with an immense amount of pressure, but the Cannoneer goaltender was sharp, denying every Terrier chance.
- With less than two minutes to play in the second the Cannoneers doubled their lead against the run of play.
- Despite the score the Terriers went into the third outshooting the Cannoneers 26-19.
- Early in the third period the Cannoneers struck again, putting the Terriers in a tough position.
- However the Terriers showed resilience late on, taking momentum back and dominating stretches of the period.
- With five minutes to go Joe Fischetto and Devon Fay found Nick Fischetto, who scored to make it 1-3.
- With two minutes to go the the Terriers pulled D'Ortona to have an extra man on the ice, and scored as a result.
- This time it was Caleb Micklon who scored with just under two seconds remaining.
- Despite the late comeback bid the Terriers fell just short despite playing well for most of the game.
