Ivarsson Hat-Trick Leads Terriers to 6-1 Win Over Husson University

Bangor, ME – David Ivarsson scored a hat trick and added an assist to lead the Terriers to a huge 6-1 win over the Husson University Eagles on Wednesday, September 25th, 2024.

How it Happened:  

  • The Eagles had possession for the majority of the first five minutes, and that culminated in a header that went inches wide of the Terrier net.
  • In the 8th minute the Terriers had their first real chance, as a bouncing ball in front of the net found David Ivarsson, who flicked it into the path of Cody Robinson, who scored a powerful volley from close range to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • The Eagles responded in the 17th minute, as a drifting cross from a corner kick found its way through a crowd of players at the front post, sneaking in to tie things at 1-1.
  • In the 25th minute the Eagles were awarded a free kick on the edge of the 18-yard box.
  •  On the free kick the Terrier wall was able to deflect the ball, negating the chance.
  • In the 35th minute the Terriers were awarded a free kick from 30 yards outside of the Eagles goal.
  • The resulting cross from Tristan Kjartansson found Isaiah Francis, whose header went slightly wide of the right post to keep things at 1-1.
  • In the 38th minute the Terriers had another chance, as a free kick from Kjartansson found Payton Mitchell, who sent it back across the box to Ivarsson, who had the finishing touch to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.
  • Neither team was able to generate any other good looks on goal for the remaining time in the first half.
  • Despite the score, the Eagles had the slight advantage of possession in the first half.
  • Within the first minute of the second half Joshua Joseph sent in a ball off a corner kick that found Francis, but his header floated inches above the crossbar.
  • Just four minutes later the Terriers were awarded a penalty kick. Micky Woodrow buried the ball into the bottom right corner to give the Terriers an important 3-1 lead.
  • In the 54th minute a flick on from an Eagle defender found the foot of Joseph, who dribbled past two players and calmly slotted the ball into the bottom right corner to give the terriers a 4-1 lead.
  • Less than one minute later the Terriers struck again, this time Joseph put in a left footed cross that found Ivarsson, who scored his second goal of the match to make it 5-1.
  • In the 57th minute Woodrow played the ball to Ivarsson on the right wing, who blasted a shot past the Eagles goalkeeper from a wide angle to make it 6-1.
  • After the goal an Eagle player got a second yellow card, meaning the Eagles had to play a man down for the rest of the game.
  • In the 70th minute a long distance shot from an Eagles player needed to be saved by Terrier goalkeeper Jamie Fischer.
  • In the 80th minute an Eagle shot went just wide of the left post, another good scoring opportunity.
  • In the 82nd minute a deep free kick from midfield found Harry Clough, who's shot was saved by the Eagles Goalkeeper from close range to keep it 6-1.
  • In the 89th minute the Eagles were awarded a penalty kick, and Fischer came up with a huge save to sum up the night for the Terriers.
  • Neither team was able to generate any other scoring opportunities for the rest of the match, and the game ended in a massive 6-1 win for the Terriers.
