Women’s Volleyball Unable to Bounce Back in Colby-Sawyer Doubleheader

New London, NH – Women's Volleyball was unable to bounce back in a doubleheader match against Colby-Sawyer College on Friday, September 20th, 2024. The final match scores were 0-3 and 2-3.

Thomas College: Overall (0-6), NAC (0-0)
 
How it Happened:  
 
Match One:
  • The Terriers started the first match well, jumping out to a 9-1 lead thanks to some early mistakes from the Chargers.
  • The Chargers began to crawl back in the first set, but multiple errors saw the terriers take a 22-15 lead.
  • The Chargers then went on a 11-2 run to close out the first set, winning by a score of 26-24 over the Terriers.
  • Once again the Terriers started well, but the Chargers then gained momentum to take set two 17-25.
  • There were a few bright spots in the third set, but the majority of the Terrier points came from Charger errors.
  • The final set ended 13-25, and the final match score was 0-3 in favor of the Chargers.
 
Inside the Stats:    
Match Two:
  • Both teams traded points to start the second match until both teams found themselves tied 10-10.
  • The Terriers went on a 5-0 run, thanks to two kills from Sariah Putnam and another kill from MJ Rose.
  • The Terriers eventually found themselves up 20-15, but the Chargers began to battle back.
  • The Chargers ended the first set on a 5-0 run of their own, to take set one 25-23.
  • Despite a 10-2 run in set two, the Terriers eventually fell 18-25.
  • The Terriers had a strong third set, going on a monster 13-2 run thanks to multiple Charger errors and multiple kills from Einy Mendez.
  • This led to a set win, which meant they were headed to a fourth set.
  • The Terriers once again were able to capitalize on multiple errors from the Chargers and took the fourth set 25-23. 
  • Putnam had multiple blocks in the set, which helped the Terriers come back to tie things 2-2.
  • Both teams traded points for the majority of the fifth set, but the Chargers eventually pulled away for a 15-13 set victory, and a 3-2 match victory.
