Baseball Splits Away Doubleheader Against Beavers

Farmington, ME – Baseball split games against the University of Maine Farmington Beavers in an away doubleheader on Sunday, May 5th, 2024. Game one ended in a 7-5 win and game two ended in a 7-9 loss.

Game One:
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started game one well, scoring three runs in the top of the first inning.
  • Samuel Keblinsky reached first on an error, and Tony Meza was able to score on the same error to make it 1-0.
  • Matt Seymour also reached first on an error, which scored Cam Haynes.
  • Aaron Young followed up with an RBI to score DJ Cagnina to make it 3-0.
  • The Beavers responded in the bottom of the first, scoring two runs to make the game 3-2.
  • Neither team could find a way to score in the second inning, but the Terriers struck again in the top of the third.
  • Aaron Young sent a home run past the right field fence that score three runs to make it 6-2.
  • The Terriers added one more run in the top of the fourth inning. Haynes singled through the left side to score Elijah Morton to make it 7-2.
  • Despite the large lead, the Beavers never gave up and scored two runs in the fifth and another in the sixth to make it 7-5.
  • Despite a strong outing from Terriers starting pitcher Jarrad Willette, Daniel May went into the game in relief in the bottom of the seventh.
  • May was ultimately able to make quick work of the Beavers to end things at 7-5.

How it Happened:
  • Once again the Terriers started the game well, scoring three runs in the first inning.
  • Seymour sent a single to right field which scored Haynes and Meza to make it 2-0.
  • Patrick Temby followed up with a single of his own which scored Cagnina to make it 3-0.
  • The Terriers added three more runs in the second inning, thanks to some good baserunning.
  • Morton was able to reach first on an error, and Hayden Dippner was able to score on the same play.
  • Meza, the next batter, sent a single to left field that scored Morton to make it 5-0.
  • A few plays later Cagnina singled up the middle of the field which scored Meza.
  • The Terriers led by six runs, but the Beavers once again began to crawl back.
  • The Beavers tacked on one run in the second, and five more in a big third inning.
  • The Terriers were unable to get anything going in the middle of the game, and the Beavers took advantage by adding two more runs to make it 6-8 in the fourth.
  • In the fifth inning Dippner was able to reach first base on an error, and Lucas Harmon was able to score on the same error to make it 7-8.
  • The Terriers were unable to score in the fifth inning as the Beavers tacked on one final run to end things 7-9.
