Thomas College Esports Weekly Recap (2/19-2/23)

2/28/2024 10:41:00 AM

Valorant:

Thomas College Valorant kicked off the week against the Queen's University Gaels. The Gael's, currently undefeated, were the team to beat in the NECC Challengers Northeast division, and Thomas started the series on the right foot, as map vetoes left Bind, Sunset, and Ascent. On Bind, the Gael's map pick, Thomas dominated the entire match, winning 13 rounds to 4 with a great attacking half. Game 2 was a much closer contest as the Gael's seemed to wake up a bit and contested the Terriers blow for blow. In the end the Gaels came out on top with a very close 11-13 game. Very similarly to game 2, both teams fought back and forth on Ascent. Thomas dominated in terms of finding opening frags and retaking the sites well as a team, but struggled when it came to closing those rounds out. Queen's University managed to hold out game 3 and ended the series with a win on map 3, with a score line of 10-13 over Thomas.

Overwatch:

Thomas Overwatch found their matchup against the Hagerstown Community College Hawks. Starting off with control on Lijiang Tower, Thomas absolutely dominated with a strong 2-0 win over the Hawks, not giving up a single point. Moving on to game 2, which took place at Shambali Monastery, Thomas again found themselves in the driver's seat, holding the HCC Hawks to the first point, and then quickly out pushed the Hawks taking game number 2. With this momentum and a clear disparity in team chemistry, Thomas moved onto Suravasa and ended the series with a 3-0 sweep over the Hawks and improved their record on the season to 1-1.
