Box Score Waterville, ME – Thomas College Women's Basketball celebrated their four Seniors,
Samantha Fortin,
Bri Benecke, Charlen Butera, and
Emily Parent while matching up against Maine Maritime Academy who is undefeated in conference play on Saturday, February 10
th. The Terriers ended the afternoon by falling to the Mariners, 66-45.
How it Happened:
- The Mariners had a strong start in the first half, they were up eight points before the Terriers hit their first basket by Sky Kubwalo.
- Thomas made sure the Mariners' lead didn't extend too much, making the score 15-7 at the end of the first fifteen.
- After a few turnovers by MMA the Terriers found themselves only down by five, thanks to Graduate Student Emily Parent.
- Steady defense and important free throws by Yaribel Pena and Hannah Coolen would take the Terriers into halftime down 27-22.
- The first ten minutes of the third half were electric thanks to Sophomore Elena Alderman hitting key shots while the Mariners offense struggled to piece together baskets.
- This was the closet trail the Terriers had all night, as they were only down 34-40.
- The Thomas momentum would not last however as MMA started to expand their lead in the final minutes of the third quarter, putting them up 16 points going into the fourth.
- Hana Isahac would come in during the fourth quarter and picked up some good jump shots in the paint.
- The Terriers would finish out the day falling to the 11-0 conference opponent, 66-45.
Inside the Stats:
- Kubwalo would lead the Terriers with 8 points and 5 rebounds.
- 30 of the Terriers points came from the bench.
What is Next:
The Terriers will travel to Castine, ME on Monday, February 12
th to play Maine Maritime Academy in the final regular season game of the year at 5:30pm.
