Terriers Comeback Against Fisher Not Enough Despite Desjardin's Career Night

Waterville, Maine – The Terriers 2nd half comeback would fall short late in the second half, dropping their non-conference matchup against Fisher College by a score of 99-78 on Thursday February 1st. 

Records: 

Thomas: Overall (8-14) Conf (4-5) NAC 

Fisher: Overall (13-17) Conf (1-2) NAIA 

How it Happened:  

  • Troy Tinch would score 5 points early in the first half, but the Falcons would make a statement, starting with an 18-5 run with 14 minutes remaining in the 1st half 

  • Yasmo Mohamud and Parker Desjardins would continue to try to give the Terriers offense some life with some points in the paint, but the Falcons continued to answer the Terriers  

  • The Terriers would cut the Falcons lead to single digits with 10 minutes to play in the first half, going on a 7-0 run with points from Desjardins and Landen Gabric  

  • Thomas would cut the Fisher's lead to just 5 points late in the first half, but the Falcons would close the half with an 8-point lead, going up 43-35 at halftime  

  • The Terriers would shift the momentum in the second half taking a 49-48 lead after a 14-5 run in the first 3 minutes of the second half 

  • Fisher would answer to keep the game close, but Desjardins and Gianni Ungaro would hit back-to-back three pointers to keep the Terriers up 55-52 with 15 minutes left to play 

  • Shortly after, Trey Brown would have an electric putback dunk keeping the momentum going for the Terriers  

  • But the Falcons would shut down the Terriers offense and answer back with a run of their own, taking a 77-69 lead with just under 7 minutes to play 

  • Fisher would take control of the remainder of the game, holding the Terriers offense to just six points in the final 5 minutes of the game, to hand the Terriers a 99-78 loss 

Inside the Stats: 

  • Parker Desjardins would finish with 27 points (career high), adding 7 rebounds an assist and 2 steals, 

  • Troy Tinch would add 12 points and 5 boards, and Gianni Ungaro would finish with 11 points and 2 blocks 

  • 11 Terriers would score in tonight's contest  

What's Next: The Terriers will host the University of Maine-Farmington on Tuesday February 6th, at 5:30 PM in a North Atlantic Conference matchup.
