Hallowell, ME – Men's Ice Hockey came up short in a 2-4 loss against the United States Coast Guard Academy Bears on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. This matchup served as the final of the semester for the Men's Ice Hockey team.

Thomas College: Overall (6-7)

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers began the game on a roll, generating several quality chances on goal and forcing several good saves from the Bears goaltender.
  • However, against the run of play, the Bears scored first to take a 1-0 lead with two minutes to go in the first period.
  • The Terriers had largely dominated up to this point, forcing 12 saves from the Bears goaltender.
  • Both teams turned up the offensive intensity in the second period, with a combined 28 shots on goal between both teams.
  • Terriers goaltender Matt D'Ortona came up with some important saves early in the period to keep it at 0-1.
  • Despite the offensive chances, the Terriers found themselves down 0-3 going into the third period.
  • The Terriers were finally able to beat the Bears goaltender on a power play early in the third thanks to Jonah Bird.
  • Bird was assisted by Quinn Hawley and Jack Perron, making it 1-3.
  • Just four minutes later the Terriers found the back of the net, this time coming from Caleb Micklon, assisted by Perron.
  • With only two minutes remaining the Terriers called a timeout, and looked to find the equalizer through a power play and an empty net to make it six versus four on the ice.
  • Despite the Terriers best efforts, the Bears scored an empty net goal in the final minute to seal it at 2-4.
