Waterville, ME - Thomas Overwatch Black, coming off a semifinal defeat against powerhouse Southern New Hampshire University Penman, looked to finish the season strong against the University of South Carolina Gamecocks in the National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) third place match this past Friday, December 6th, 2024.
How It Happened:
- Going into the first map the Terriers had a great game plan and confidence off the back of professional player "Hadi", coming in to give insight and coaching to the team earlier in the week.
- With the additional coaching and information added to their arsenal, the Terriers made a statement win 2-0 and started the series off 1-0.
- The Gamecocks selected Route 66 for their second map, and the Terriers continued to dominate as they attacked first on the map, getting up 3-0 with 1:06 in the timebank.
- The Terriers would then proceed to hold the Gamecocks on first point, ending the map 3-0 and going up 2-0 in the series.
- The Gamecocks chose Colosseo as the third map, with hopes to take a map off the Terriers.
- However, the Terriers kept the aggression and tempo up and rolled to a map win, only giving up 37 meters of progression to the Gamecocks.
- Thomas College Black won the series 3-0 very convincingly and took home third place in NECC Division 3.
What's Next:
- With the season over, both the team and Head Esports Coach Jonathan Middour have high aspirations for the spring semester, and hope to continue winning and to bring home a trophy.
