Men’s Basketball Bounces Back With 85-80 Win Over Castleton

Williamstown, MA – Men's Basketball bounced back with an 85-80 win against Vermont State University Castleton in day two of the 2024 Williams Purple and Gold Classic on Sunday, November 24th, 2024.

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers started the game well, with multiple points coming from Metin YavuzParker Desjardins, and Jackson Ruelke.
  • After an early 10-2 lead the Spartans scored six straight. 
  • The Terriers responded the best way possible, scoring 13 straight points thanks to Yavuz and Desjardins.
  • The Terriers continued to roll, with three multiple pointers from TJ Blackmon to help guide them to a 35-29 lead.
  • With three minutes remaining in the first half the Terriers went on an 11-0 run to make it 53-40 going into the break
  • The Spartans began the second half well, fighting back to cut the Terrier lead to less than 10 points.
  • Both teams traded points for the next five minutes, with the Terriers holding the Spartans from gaining any ground.
  • With seven minutes left Ruelke connected on an important three-point shot to take the Terrier lead back to 11 points.
  • A three pointer from the Spartans with just under two minutes left made it a five-point game at 74-79.
  • Important free throws from Blackmon and Ruelke helped ensure the Terrier victory in the final minute, 85-80.
