Men’s Soccer Falls to #17 Buffalo State in NCAA Tournament

Medford, MA – Men's Soccer fell to #17 Buffalo State in the first round of the Division III National Tournament by a score of 0-3 on Saturday, November 16th, 2024.

How it Happened:  
  • The Terriers started the game well, with Joshua Joseph forcing a good save from the Bengals goalkeeper in the second minute.
  • Five minutes later David Ivarsson's shot went just left of the post with the game held at 0-0
  • The Bengals then turned up the intensity, taking eight shots in the next 12 minutes.
  • In the 22nd minute Jamie Fischer was forced to make a good save to keep things level.
  • The Bengals had the majority of the chances, but the Terriers defense held strong.
  • With two minutes to go until halftime Andrew Hodgins' shot looked to go to the top right corner but was saved once again by the Bengals goalkeeper.
  • Despite chances from both sides, the teams went into halftime tied 0-0.
  • The Bengals had two shots early in the second half, but finally broke through in the 53rd minute, taking a 1-0 lead.
  • This was followed up two minutes later with another goal, putting the Terriers down 0-2.
  • The final goal was scored in the 75th minute, with the Bengals striking again to make it 0-3.
  • Neither team was able to generate any clear-cut opportunities in the final 15 minutes, and the Bengals advanced to the second round of the NCAA Division III National Tournament.
  • Despite the loss the Terriers had one of the best seasons in program history, going 13-2-4 and 8-0-2 in conference play.
