Joseph’s Hat-Trick Leads Terriers to 6-3 Victory Over UMF

Farmington, ME – Men's Soccer picked up their eighth straight win, taking down the University of Maine Farmington Beavers by a score of 6–3 in a North Atlantic Conference match on Saturday, October 5th, 2024. Joshua Joseph put in a stellar performance for the Terriers, finishing the match with a hat-trick. 

 

Records: 

Thomas College: Overall (8-1-1), NAC (6-0-0) 

University of Maine Farmington: Overall (5-4-1), NAC (4-2-0) 


 

How it Happened: 

  • The Terriers would push the pace from the opening whistle, with Joseph finding the back of the net off a David Ivarsson assist just eight minutes into the match.

  • Farmington would attempt to answer back shortly after, but Terrier's keeper Jamie Fischer would make two solid saves to keep the Terriers ahead.

  • Midway through the first half, Micky Woodrow would find Joseph for his second goal of the match, putting the Terriers ahead 2-0.

  • But Farmington would answer quickly, scoring just three minutes later to make it a 2-1 game.

  • In the 38th minute, Joseph would be given a penalty after the Terriers offense would be fouled inside the box, and would complete the hat-trick scoring his third goal of the match.

  • Thomas would score two more goals in the final 6 minutes with Andrew Hodgins powering one past the keeper off a Ivarsson assist, and Woodrow finishing an unassisted goal to put the Terriers up 5-1 at the half.

  • The Beavers would open the second half with a quick goal to make it a 5-2 game, but the Terriers defense would continue to shut down the Beavers attack throughout the second half.

  • But the Terriers weren't finished, as Tre Burgess would dribble through the Beavers defense and set up Zayin Clough for another Terriers goal.

  • The Beavers would score a late goal in the second half, but the Terriers hold on to defeat the Beavers by a score of 6-3, picking up their 8th straight win.

What's Next:  

  • The Terriers will be back in action on Tuesday, October 8th traveling to Cambridge, Massachusetts to take on the Lesley University Lynx in a North Atlantic Conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 PM.
