Women’s Soccer Unable to Bounce Back Against Salem State

Salem, MA – Women's Soccer traveled to Salem, Massachusetts to take on the Salem State University Vikings in a non-conference matchup on Tuesday, October 15th. Emilee Ireland and Emily Rock would combine for 14 saves against Salem State, but the Vikings would come out on top, defeating the Terriers by a score of 4-1. 

Records:  

Thomas: Overall (1-8-1), NAC (1-5-1) 

Salem State: Overall (3-7-2), MASCAC (1-2-1) 

How it Happened: 

  • The Vikings would find the back of the net first, scoring in the first ten minutes of play to put the Terriers behind 1-0.

  • Salem State would continue to pressure the Terriers defense, with Ireland making ten saves in the first half.

  • But the Vikings would score again late in the first half and would put the Terriers down 2-0 at halftime.

  • Rock would enter the game at keeper in the second half for the Terriers, making two strong saves early.

  • The Vikings would score again in the 71st minute of the match, but just two minutes later Serenia Ahumada would find Alexandra Wallingford for a Terriers goal to make it a 3-1 game.

  • The Terriers would try to produce some more offensive opportunities late in the second half, but were unable to capitalize.

  •  The Vikings would take control of the remainder of the match, scoring a late goal in the second half to hand the Terriers a 4-1 road loss.

What's Next:  

  • The Terriers will return to Smith Field for Homecoming weekend on Saturday, October 19th, taking on the Husson University Eagles in a North Atlantic Conference match. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
