Joseph’s Last Second Goal Lifts Terriers Over Lynx

Waterville, ME – Joshua Joseph scored the winning goal with under one second left on the clock in a thrilling 3-2 win against Lesley University on Saturday, September 23, 2023.

Thomas College: Overall (2-2-5), NAC (1-0)
Lesley University: Overall (1-5), NAC (0-1)

How it Happened:
  • The Terriers got off to a hot start, scoring the first two goals of the game within 22 minutes.
  • Joseph stole the ball from a Lynx defender and ran to place the ball into the left corner to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.
  • Nine minutes later, Mustafa Najm sent in a perfect corner kick to Hunter Smith, who used his head to give the Terriers a 2-0 lead.
  • The Terriers would take six more shots in the half, with perhaps the best chance coming in the 44th minute, when Patrick Moynihan's shot from distance sailed inches over the crossbar.
  • In the 53rd minute, an own goal from the Terriers gave the Lynx a sense of belief in what otherwise was a dominant performance up to that point.
  • In the 69th minute, Joseph had another effort that needed to be saved by Williams.
  • Three minutes later, another Terrier own goal tied the game up at 2-2, against the run of play.
  • In the 81st minute Micky Woodrow was robbed of a goal by Williams, who made an incredible diving save to his right side.
  • The Terriers were knocking on the door in the last two minutes, generating three shots to try and get the winning goal.
  • With less than one second left on the clock, Woodrow found Joseph, who smashed the ball into the net in a scramble to win the game 3-2.
  • The Terriers outshot the Lynx, 23-11 in an exciting matchup.
