WATERVILLE MAINE - The Thomas Womens Tennis Team had an impressive outing in their final home match of the season, defeating the University of Southern Maine Huskies by a score of 7-2.
Seniors Lauren Smith and Riley Pierce started the day strong in #1 doubles, picking up an 8-4 win for the Terriers. Sophomores Keira Gilman and Libby Forgues kept the pressure on the Huskies in #2 doubles following Smith and Pierce with another 8-4 win for the Terriers. The Terriers would go on to sweep the doubles matches with Graduate Student Renée Rossi and First Year Tracy Lopez picking up an 8-3 win in #3 doubles.
In #1 singles, Smith would go on to drop her match, but the Terriers would rally quickly with Pierce winning a thriller in #2 doubles beating her opponent in a tiebreaker set 7-5. Gilman would follow with a strong performance in #3 singles beating her opponent 6-0, 6-2. The Terriers would strike again with 6-0, 6-2 victory for Forgues in #4 singles, but would drop #5 singles with a loss for Rossi. The Terriers would end the day on a good note with Lopez putting away her opponent 6-2, 6-3 in #6 singles.
What's Next: The Terriers will travel to Johnson Vermont, to take on fellow NAC opponent Northern Vermont University-Johnson, on Saturday September 23rd at 1pm
