Box Score Waterville, ME – Thomas College Field Hockey took on cross town rivals Colby College on Sunday, September 10
th. After alternating scores, the Terriers end the game falling 4-2, one of the Terrier goals coming from a penalty stroke.
How it Happened:
- A heavy offensive Mules 1st quarter forced the Terriers to lock down early, with two of Colby's six shots being blocked by defense.
- The Terriers were able to increase their offensive play in the 2nd quarter immediately starting with two back-to-back corners.
- Terriers goalkeeper Brennan Pinto made two high pressure saves, before the Terriers scored the first goal of the game.
- Junior Julia Reny slammed one in the back of the goal cage off a penalty corner a minute before the half ended, assisted by Molly Littlefield.
- A minute after halftime the Mules responded tying the game up at one with their own goal off a corner.
- Just over five minutes later Colby took the lead in the game after a cross ball, making it 2-1.
- The Terriers started the 4th quarter with a much-needed momentum putting a shot on cage resulting in a penalty stroke, which was score by First Year Kara Richards
- The final five minutes of the game the Mules pulled away scoring two goals and keeping the Terriers outside the circle, final score 4-2
The Goalkeepers:
Pinto ended the day making five saves, while the Mules Emily Loeb made one save in the sixty minutes.
What is Next:
The Terriers will host their next game, against SUNY Morrisville on Saturday, September 16
th. The game will also be their first North Atlantic Conference game of the season.
