Box Score Gorham, ME- Field Hockey played their first regular game of the season at the University of Southern Maine on Friday, September 1. The Terriers started off strong, but ultimately fell to the Huskies 3-1.
How it Happened:
- The Terriers took no time at all to get ahead scoring the first goal of the game within the first minute. Graduate Student Kayci Faulkingham got the Terriers loan goal off a corner.
- Both the Terriers and Huskies has multiple opportunities to score in the remaining fourteen minutes of the first half but came up unsuccessful.
- The first Husky goal was scored by Abigail Chartier with five seconds remaining in the second quarter.
- A scoreless third quarter tested the Terriers defense and goalkeeper Brennan Pinto with multiple shots taken.Â
- The Huskies scored their second goal of the game right at the start of the fourth quarter after a strong offensive pressure by Sage Drinkwater putting in a rebound shot off Pinto's pads.Â
- With four minutes remaining the final USM goal was scored, bringing the game to 3-1 USM.
