Box Score Presque Isle, ME – The Thomas Terriers were overpowered in their conference opener vs the Owls of UMaine Presque Isle on Tuesday, December 5th, 2023.

1st Quarter
The Owls jumped out to a quick start scoring 12 points in the first 4 minutes and holding the Terrier to just 3. The quarter would continue with the teams trading buckets. Hannah Coolen hit a 3 and made a layup, while Elena Alderman would add a pair of layups, the quarter would end with the Terriers down by 9.
2nd Quarter
UMPI would score the first three baskets of the second quarter to stretch the lead to 16. Thomas would reply by going on a small run of their own, Deja Hamilton hit the back end of two free throws and would knock down a pair. Jay Jordan and Coolen would add to the scoreboard, but Thomas couldn't keep pace with the Owls. UMPI would take a 40-25 lead into the half.
3rd Quarter
Both teams would trade points to open the second half, a Jordan layup, Pena free throw, and Coolen three kept the lead from growing. Deja Hamilton would hit a three and Jordan would follow it up with a layup to cut the lead to 14. Presque Isle would reply by going on a 15-0 run, Charlene Butera would put an end to the run by making a layup with 1:37 left in the quarter, UMPI would take a 67-40 lead into the 4th.
4th Quarter
Sky Kubwalo would start the 4th strong as she got to the rim and finished getting fouled in the process, she knocked down the free throw to complete the 3-point play. She then won a Defensive rebound and turned defense into offense knocking down a Jumper. UMPI would respond strong yet again as they went on a 9-0 run to stretch the lead to 31 points. That would be more then enough as the Owls claimed the victory 88-48
The Terriers went 19-63 from the floor (30%) 5-26 from 3 (19%) and 5-9 from the line (56%) while the Owls went 30-70 from the floor (43%) 9-20 from three (45%) and 19-27 from the line (70%).
Sky Kubwalo led Thomas with 11 points and 5 rebounds while Hannah Coolen chipped in with 10 points.
The Owls had four different players in double figures but were led by Emily Wheaton and Aleia Milano (17 points each)
What's Next: The Terriers return to the court this weekend as they play host to NVU Lyndon on Saturday December 9th, tip-off is scheduled for 6:00pm.
