HALLOWELL MAINE - The Thomas College Men's Club Ice Hockey team were defeated in their season opener in a tightly contested match against Saint Joseph's College by a score of 6-5 on Friday, October 6th.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
1ST PERIOD

The Terriers would strike first with First Year Jack Perron scoring his first collegiate goal, with assists from First Year Jonah Bird and Senior Cam Tower late in the 1st period to give the Terriers a 1-0 lead.

St. Joes would fire right back, scoring with less than a minute in the 1st period to knot the game at 1-1.
2ND PERIOD

Junior DJ Cagnina would start the 2nd period with a goal to give the Terriers a 2-1 lead.

Less than a minute later the Monks would tie it back up at 2-2 with a goal.

The Terriers would respond quickly, with sophomore Nick Fischetto finding the back of the net with assists from Bird and Cagnina, giving the Terriers a 3-2 lead.

The Terriers defense would hold off the Monks for over 10 minutes, but would give up a goal late, ending the period tied 3-3.
3RD PERIOD

The Monks would come out strong taking a 4-3 lead early in the 3rd period.

Sophomore Jack Morrill would find Senior Daniel Guarino for another Terriers goal to tie the game at 4-4 with 14:58 to go

Seconds later the Terriers would score again with Jack Perron picking up his 2nd goal of the game, with First Year Tyler Gay picking up his first collegiate assist.

The Monks would strike back with eight minutes to play, scoring two goals in seven seconds of play, and would shut down the Terriers attack, handing the Terriers their first loss of the season.
