Box Score Waterville, ME – Women's Basketball came back in second half to win big against the University of Maine Farmington at home NAC Conference game on Tuesday, January 31
st. The final score of the Terriers first win against the Beavers since the 2019-2020 season was 63-51.
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (3-18), NAC (2-9)
University of Maine Farmington: Overall (2-18), NAC (1-10)
How it Happened:
- Terriers were the first to get on the board, but went into a dry spell for the next five minutes
- Hannah Coolen dropped her first three of the night, giving the Terriers much needed momentum as Samantha Fortin (2 points) and Mia Henderson (4 points) quickly added six more, 11-7 Thomas
- Farmington found the net after some missed opportunities from Thomas giving them a seven point run, first quarter ended with the Terriers down by one, 14-13 Farmington
- The beginning of the second quarter faired will for the Terriers, but six turnovers from the Terriers put the Beavers up nine going into halftime, 35-26 Farmington
- Thomas took the first four minutes of the third quarter to get the momentum back on their side, then Coolen drained her second three earning them the lead, 39-37 Thomas
- The last three minutes was the game of free throws from both sides, and Farmington worked their way back up to a tie to end the third, 42-42
- Going on a nine point run, the Terriers were able to rebound and capitalize on the Farminton misses
- Fortin capitalized in the paint during the fourth getting nine of her twenty-six points in the final ten minutes.
- Thomas pulled away too much for the Beavers to catch up finishing with a Terrier win 63-51
Inside the Numbers:
- Brianne Benecke worked for her team tonight racking up eight assists and ten rebounds
- Fortin dropped a career high twenty-six points on the night, followed by six rebounds
- Coolen was the second Terrier to finish in double digits finishing with a solid ten points
