Men’s Basketball Falls in Close Match Up to Husson University

Box Score Waterville, ME – Men's Basketball drops 72-80 in home match against Husson University Friday, January 27th.
 
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (3-15), NAC (1-8)
Husson University: Overall (9-11), NAC (7-2)
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers made the first fives minutes a real back and forth contest on who was going to lead this game
  • Husson was able to take advantage of some missed shots giving them the up at the middle of the first
  •  Thomas was not backing down, as James Thomas Phelan had a field day in the first draining two threes, gaining offensive rebounds, and providing assists to his team
  • Quickly the Terriers found themselves constantly down by a possession, not able to break through to the lead in the last five minutes
  • Thomas went into halftime down their furthest in the half, 41-34
  • Rico Limcaoco came into the second half hot, getting two steals in the first three minutes
  • Thirteen minutes left Thomas had tied the game up at 47
  • Energy from the gym kept the Terriers fighting as turnovers and missed shots by the Eagles helped keep them in the game
  • Four minutes left Thomas had to work there way back from an eleven point deficit, with help from Kory Winch, Trey Brown, Matthew Hadnot, and a much needed three from Parker Desjardins -
  • Unfortunately, Thomas was unable to secure the ball in the last minute, final score 80-72
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • The Terriers scored twenty-one points off of fast breaks
  • Hadnot led the Terriers in both points, finishing with eighteen, and rebounds, eight
  • In the limited times Thomas was at the free throw line they did take advantage finishing 11-13 (84.6%)

Thomas College Men's Basketball will travel to Husson University Saturday, January 28th to play their second conference game with them at 5pm.
