Women’s Basketball Come Up Short in Final Minutes vs NVU Lyndon

Box Score Lyndonville, VT – Women's Basketball fought hard in their second game this weekend against Northern Vermont University – Lyndon falling 66-59. Going back and forth with the Hornets for the entire game, until made free throws in the final minute put Lyndon ahead for the win.  
 
The Records:
Thomas College: Overall (2-15), NAC (1-7)
Northern Vermont University – Lyndon: Overall (9-8), NAC (5-2)
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers got ahead immediately with layups from both Emily Hagerty and Kristina Perry, but feel behind with made free throws and three's from the Hornets
  • After being subbed in Hannah Coolen got the Terriers back in the lead with six consecutive points, 10-9 Terriers
  • Unable to score in the last two minutes of the first, Terriers go into quarter two down 16-10
  • After finding themselves down by nine five minutes into the quarter, turnovers from the Hornets and made three's from Hagerty, Mia Henderson, and Paige Lafrenaye Thomas went into halftime up 29-27
  • Both teams could not find their footing in the third as missed shot and turnovers were things shared by both the Terriers and Hornets, 45-42 Lyndon
  • Three minutes into the fourth Thomas found themselves down by eleven, but were able to work their way to a one-point deficit with two minutes left, but the Hornets stayed steady completed free throws and finishing out the game
 
Inside the Numbers:
  • Twenty-six of the Terriers points came from the Terriers Reserves
  • Emily Hagerty doubled her points from the night before leading the Terriers in points, finishing with thirteen points
  • Both Samantha Fortin and Perry finished with eight rebounds

Thomas Women's Basketball will play at Colby College on Tuesday, January 24 at 7:00 pm.
