BANGOR, Maine - Thomas softball's terrific season came to an end on Sunday afternoon when they lost to Husson University 4-1 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championship Game.
The Terriers drew first blood scoring in the top of the first inning when
Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) reached on a throwing error, allowing
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) to score. Unfortunately for Thomas, the Husson bats came alive in the fourth inning, scoring all four of their runs. The Eagles defense clamped down the rest of the game, only allowing one Thomas player to reach base in the last two innings.
Currier pitched the entire game for Thomas, allowing four runs on 11 hits, and striking out two. She also led the offense with two hits, and one run scored.
Maddie Rock (Bridgton, Maine) had the Terrier's other hit in the game.
They end the season 19-17 overall and 8-2 in conference play. They played six games in three days at the NAC Championship Tournament, going 4-2, with both losses coming to Husson.
Thomas had three players named to the All-Tournament Team:
Kelsey Currier
Bailey Dunphy
Claudia Migliaccio
All-Conference Awards will be announced by the NAC on Monday afternoon.
