WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas women's lacrosse played a strong first half before SUNY-Canton's offense came alive, as the Terriers fell 22-9.
The Kangaroos struck first in the opening quarter, with two goals. Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) got the Terriers on the board at 10:07 in the first quarter. SUNY Canton scored two more times in the first quarter to take a 4-1 lead at the end of one quarter.
Thomas picked up their offense in the second quarter scoring three goals. Anna Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine) scored twice in the quarter while Marissa Laurendeau (Acton, Maine) picked up the Terrier's third goal. The Roos took a 9-4 edge into half time.
SUNY-Canton came out firing on offense in the third quarter, outscoring Thomas 9-4. The Terriers were able to curtail the Roos offense in the fourth quarter but the visitors' lead was just too much to overcome.
LaRochelle led the Terriers with four goals, two assists while Chadwick had two goals. Lizzy Gotay made 17 saves in net for Thomas.
