Women's lacrosse cruises at home against rival Husson

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas women's lacrosse got their second win of the season against Husson University on Saturday, beating the Eagles 11-4 at home. 
 
The Terriers were in control of the game from the start, keeping the Eagles scoreless in the first quarter. Alia Chasse (Sanford, Maine) scored the first goal of the game at 12:33 in the first quarter. Anna Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine) scored twice in the quarter for Thomas while Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) and Scarlett Raymond-Ayer (Hallowell, Maine) each scored once, to give them a 5-0 lead after the first period. 
 
Both teams played well defensively in the second quarter, each only allowing one goal. Chasse found the back of the net for the Terriers at 3:13 as the home team took a 5-1 lead into halftime. 
 
Each team scored two goals in the third quarter as the Eagles were unable to chip away at Thomas' lead. LaRochelle scored both of the Terrier's goals in the third frame. Thomas was able to pull further away from Husson in the fourth quarter, scoring three goals, and only allowing one goal. Lauren Bartlett (Wells, Maine) was able to get two past the Eagles' goalie and LaRochelle notched one more. 
 
LaRochelle led Thomas with four goals, three assists and seven draw controls while Chadwick had two goals, two assists, six ground balls and four draw controls. Chasse and Bartlett also contributed two goals each. Lizzy Gotay (Guilderland, N.Y.) picked up her second win of the season in net for the Terriers, making seven saves and stopping the Eagles from scoring on any of their free possession shots.
