WATERVILLE, Maine - Women's lacrosse picked up their second win of the season over University of Maine at Farmington on Saturday, 12-7, moving them into a good position to make the playoffs.
The first three quarters of play were very close with the Terriers pulling away in the final quarter.
Lauren Bartlett (Wells, Maine) got the scoring started at 12:10 of the first quarter. The Beavers answered with two goals of their own, to take a brief 2-1 lead.
Anna Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine) and
Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) each scored once to give Thomas a 3-2 lead after the first quarter.
The second quarter was a good defensive showing by both teams, with only three goals being scored. Chadwick scored twice in the quarter for the Terriers while UMaine Farmington scored once. Thomas went into halftime with a 5-3 edge.
The Beavers outscored the Terriers 3-1 in the third quarter but Thomas rebounded, pouring on 6 goals in the fourth quarter while holding UMaine Farmington to just one goal. The win moves the Terriers into fourth place in the North Atlantic Conference standings, with the top four teams making the playoffs.
Chadwick led Thomas with four goals, one assist, and eight draw controls. LaRochelle added three goals and one assist and
Alia Chasse (Sanford, Maine) had three goals.
Lizzy Gotay (Guilderland, N.Y.) picked the win in net for the Terriers, making six saves.
UP NEXT: The Terriers will close out their season by hosting SUNY-Canton next Saturday and then NVU-Lyndon on April 24th.
