Kangaroos jump past Terriers men's lacrosse in fourth quarter

WATERVILLE, Maine - Thomas men's lacrosse battled hard, ultimately falling to SUNY-Canton 14-6.  

The first three quarters were back and forth with both teams playing strong on both sides of the ball. The Kangaroos got on the board first, scoring twice in the first quarter. Nathan Carter (Epsom, N.H.) scored the first goal for the Terriers at 3:50 in the first quarter, as Thomas trailed 2-1 after the first 15 minutes.  

The Terriers scored twice around the 10 minute mark of the second quarter, to take a 3-2 lead. Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.) and Dylan Brooks (Sanbornville, N.H.) both netted a goal in the second quarter. SUNY-Canton answered with four goals of their own and took a 6-4 lead after the first half.  

The third quarter was all about defense with each team only scoring one goal each. MacWhinnie scored the lone goal for the Terriers in the quarter. SUNY-Canton pulled away in the fourth quarter, outscoring Thomas 6-1 in the final fifteen minutes.  

MacWhinnie led the offense efforts with two goals and one assist. Five different players scored for the Terriers in the loss.Patrick Buxton (Portland, Maine) played all sixty minutes in net for Thomas making 12 saves.  

UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to Maine Maritime Academy on Wednesday, with game time slated for 7 p.m.
