BRUNSWICK, Maine. - Thomas Baseball got their second win of the season over Bowdoin College on Tuesday, beating the Polar Bears 4-1.
The Terriers wasted no time getting on the board, scoring two runs in the first inning.
Aaron Young (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) drove in Thomas' first run with a single to right field, scoring
Kyle Gleason (Danville, N.H.). Nick Hutson (Queens, N.Y.) followed with a single of his own to put Thomas up 2-0.
Young added another single in the third inning to pad the Terrier's lead.
Jarrad Willette (Concord, N.H.) drove home an insurance run in the fifth inning to give Thomas the 4-0 lead. The Polar Bears were able to get one run back in the eighth but the Terriers were able to contain the damage and hold on for the win.
Young led the team with two hits, one walk and two RBIs. Gleason added one hit, two runs and one walk while four other players had hits.
Zach Nickerson (Fairfield, Maine) picked up his second win of the season on the mound for Thomas. He pitched the first four innings of the game, allowing just two hits, striking out four and walking three.
Daniel May (Honolulu, Hawaii), Alex Avila (Auburn, Maine), and
Andrew Pruell (Warren, Maine) all came in, in relief, allowing one run on three hits.
The Terriers also beat Bowdoin on April 3rd 6-5. This is the first time in program history that Thomas has beat Bowdoin in two consecutive games. They have now won three out of the last four meetings.
UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to Orono tomorrow to play the University of Maine with first pitch scheduled for 4 p.m.
