Women's lacrosse gets conference win on the road against Wildcats

UTICA, N.Y. - Thomas women's lacrosse bounced back from their loss on Saturday with a comprehensive win over SUNY Poly on Sunday, beating the Wildcats 12-5. 
 
The Terriers started out strong, outscoring the Wildcats 5-1 in the first quarter, getting goals from five different players. Lauren Bartlett (Wells, Maine) kicked off the scoring just 33 seconds into the game. Anna Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine) doubled the Thomas lead just over a minute later. Scarlett Raymond-Ayer (Hallowell, Maine), Emma Lind (Brunswick, Maine), and Alia Chasse (Sanford, Maine) all contributed goals in the first quarter. 
 
Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) and Chasse scored two more goals early in the second quarter, to give Thomas a 7-1 lead. SUNY Poly would score three unanswered goals to give the Terriers a 7-4 lead at halftime. 
 
Thomas went on to outscore the Wildcats 5-1 in the second half, giving them an important North Atlantic Conference win, with three conference games remaining. The Terriers currently sit in fifth place in the standings with the top four teams making the playoffs. 
 
First year LaRochelle had another stellar game, scoring four goals and two assists while Chasse added three goals, one assist and nine ground balls. Senior captain Chadwick added a goal as well as won an impressive 10 draw controls and had 10 ground balls. Lizzy Gotay (Guilderland, N.Y.) got her fourth win of the season in net, making nine saves. 
 
UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to the University of Maine Farmington on Saturday, April 16th at noon.
