WATERVILLE, Maine - Men's lacrosse fell behind early against Salem State University and were unable to catch up, losing 13-7.
The Vikings held the Terriers scoreless in the first quarter and put four goals of their own. Thomas got on the board at 7:01 in the second quarter when
Max Irons (Limerick, Maine) found the back of the net.
Daniel MacWhinnie (Lanesborough, Mass.) cut the Salem State lead down to 6-2 when he scored two minutes later.
The Terriers entered the second half trailing 9-2 but wasted no time getting on the board with a goal by
Jakeb Weston (West Gardiner, Maine). Irons and MacWhinnie both scored their second goals of the game to cut Salem State's lead down to 12-5 at the end of third.
The Vikings scored their only goal in the fourth quarter, thirty seconds in, in part because Thomas played their best defense of the game in the fourth quarter.
Nathan Carter (Epsom, N.H.) and Weston both scored in the quarter for the home team.
Weston, MacWhinnie, and Irons had two goals each in the game while
Dylan Brooks (Sanbornville, N.H.) added two assists.
Dominic DeSimone (Millersville, Md.) and Irons led the team in ground balls with eight each.
Daniel Guarino made 11 saves in net for the Terriers.
