STANDISH, Maine - Women's lacrosse lost their season opener at Saint Joseph's on Tuesday afternoon by a score of 22-2. 

Shauna Clark opened up the scoring for the Monks at 12:17 in the first quarter. St. Joe's scored three more goals in the first quarter, taking a 4-0 lead after the first 15 minutes. 

The Monks found the back of the goal cage two more times before the Terriers answered with two quick goals. Anna Chadwick (Gardiner, Maine)scored the first goal with 7:47 remaining in the second quarter with Mary LaRochelle (Woolwich, Maine) picking up the assist. Alia Chasse (Sanford, Maine) added the second goal for Thomas just 47 seconds later. 

St. Joe's entered the second half with a 12-2 lead. The Monks extended their lead, further with five goals in both the third quarter and fourth quarter. Lydia Dexter led St. Joe's with five goals and seven assists. 

UP NEXT: The Terriers will travel to Nashua N.H. to take on Rivier University. They have only played each other once back in 2015, which saw Thomas win 14-7.
