WATERVILLE, Maine – Senior Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) hit 1,000 points in his career and first year Isaiah Williams (Valley Springs, Calif.) had his best game of his young career, as men's hoops fell in their regular season finale to the University of Maine at Farmington, 91-69.
Webster came into the game needing 17 points to join the 1k points club. It was Williams though that came out strong for the Terriers, scoring the first 8 points. Webster hit an early three to get on the board, giving Thomas an early 11-5 run.
The home team kept the lead until the Beavers knotted it up at 21 a piece with eight minutes remaining in the first half. UMF got hot at the end of the half, going on a 10-5 run, taking a 40-34 lead into the locker rooms.
The Beavers picked up right where they left off, controlling the second half. They only made one three pointer in the first half but were able to convert nine in the second half. UMF shot an impressive 56% from the field in the second half. Webster hit his 1,000th point with just over three minutes remaining in the game. The Terriers got within eight points late in the game but the visitors ended the game on a 16-2 run.
Williams had 19 points in the loss for the Terriers while Webster had 18 points. Webster is the 29th Thomas men's basketball player to hit 1,000 career points. Terion Moss had an impressive 38 points in the win for the Beavers.
UP NEXT: Thomas will travel to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for an opening round North Atlantic Conference playoff contest on Tuesday at 5:30 p.m. The Owls took both regular season meetings against the Terriers.
