Smith Leads Men’s Soccer to Solid Win Versus SUNY Cobleskill

Box Score Cobleskill, New York – The Terriers finished off their weekend New York trip with a solid 3-0 win versus SUNY Cobleskill on Sunday afternoon. Hunter Smith led the Terriers to an important NAC conference win.
 
Records:
Thomas College: Overall (5-5-3), NAC (3-1-3)
SUNY Cobleskill: Overall (0-12-2), NAC (0-6-0)
 
How it Happened:
  • The Terriers wasted no time getting started, with Hunter Smith scoring five minutes in. Cole Washburn sent in a cross to Smith, who headed the ball in to give Thomas a 1-0 lead
  • Neither team was able to score in the rest of the first half. Thomas outshot SUNY Cobleskill 8-6 and had three corners to the Tigers four.
  • 18 Minutes in to the second half, Hunter Smith once again found himself in a scoring position. Smith broke free from the defense and slotted the ball home to make the score 2-0.
  • Carter Pelletier put the cherry on top, with a goal coming with 15 minutes left to play. Joshua Joseph played in Pelletier behind the Tigers defense, and Pelletier scored weakside.
 
Goalkeepers:

The Terriers Matthew Gosselin played the full 90 minutes in net, making a total of five saves on five shots on goal. Gosselin earned his first shutout of his college career.
The Tigers John Gergen also played the entire game, finishing with three saves on six shots on goal.
 
What is Next:
Men's Soccer will look to build upon their win when they travel to University of Maine Presque Isle on October 15. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 pm.
