Dominant First Half Propels Men’s Soccer to Draw Versus NAC Competitor SUNY-Delhi

Box Score Delhi, New York – The Terriers opened their weekend away trip against SUNY-Delhi with a 2-2 draw. The Terriers had a strong first half and were able to hold on to tie in an important conference matchup against a very young and talented SUNY-Delhi squad.

Thomas College: Overall (4-5-3), NAC (2-1-3)
SUNY-Delhi: Overall (8-2-3), NAC (4-0-2)
 
How it Happened:
  • Thomas College's Eric LaBrie was the first to strike, giving Thomas a 1-0 lead eight minutes in. LaBrie was able to pick the ball off an opposing defender, dribble around the goalie and scored for his fifth goal of the season.
  • 24 minutes later, Mustafa Najm threaded a through pass behind the SUNY-Delhi defense which found Joshua Joseph. Joseph slotted the ball between the legs of the keeper to make the game 2-0.
  • SUNY-Delhi was able to respond by scoring two goals in the second half, with the second coming with eight minutes left to play.
  • Joseph led the team with five shots, four of which were on goal. He has scored in each of the last five games he has played.
Goalkeepers:
The Terriers Matthew Gosselin played the full 90 minutes in net, making a total of four saves on six shots on goal.
The Broncos Jonathan Walch also played the entire game, finishing with six saves on eight shots on goal.
 
What is Next:
Men's Soccer will look to finish off their road trip and take on SUNY-Cobleskill on Sunday, October 9th. Kickoff is at 12:30 pm.
