Men's Ice Hockey Picks up First Win of Season Against Colby-Sawyer, 7-1

New London, NH - The Men's Ice Hockey team knocked off Colby-Sawyer 7-1 in their first NECHA conference game of the season. The Terriers controlled the play for most of the game but after one period they only led 1-0 on a goal by Michael Deveaux , assisted by Kurt Heywood.

Colby-Sawyer tied the game 1-1 early in the second. The Terriers answered quickly and were able to take control by scoring three straight goals. Hunter Hughes put the Terriers back on top on a goal assisted by Kegan Rodrigue. 30 seconds later Freshman Jack Morrill stole the puck from a defensive player and quickly scored his first career goal to put the Terriers up 3-1. Dylan Fortier closed the scoring in the second on a hard shot assisted by Michael Deveaux and Kurt Heywood making it 4-1. The third started with some back and forth but Thomas made it 5-1 on a hustle goal from Hunter Hughes assisted by Zach Pelletier.

The score remained 5-1 until five minutes remaining when Cam Bigelow Made it 6-1, on a beautiful feed from Kurt Heywood. With 59 seconds remaining Cam Tower took a pass from Heywood to close the scoring at 7-1. Colby Sawyer goalie Kristian Viljanen played an impressive game keeping his team close and turning away 58 shots. Gaston Fuksa was sharp in the Terrier goal turning away 24 shots, many from close range. Thomas was led by their Freshman line made up of Jack Morrill, Jacob Davis and team nominated "Player of The Game" Colin Casserly.

Thomas has a quick turnaround as they are at Dartmouth Saturday for a noon puck drop.
