Men's Ice Hockey Falls to Dartmouth College

Hanover, NH - Thomas Colleges Men's Ice Hockey led for two periods before falling behind Dartmouth in the 3rd period. Ryan Irving scored an empty net goal to seal the 6-3 win for the Big Green.

Dylan Fortier open the scoring 9:16 into the first period as he beat goaltender Lucas Laroche (23 saves) with assists coming from Michael Deveaux and Kurt Heywood. The period would end with Thomas up 1-0. Dartmouth quickly tied the game early in the second and the Terriers struggled taking 3 straight penalties. With the game still tied 1-1 Cam Bigelow followed a shot from Nick Fischetto and punched home the rebound sending the team to the locker room up 2-1 after 2 periods. Assist also credited to Ryan Kapplemann. The first half of the 3rd period was controlled by the home team and Dartmouth quickly was in front 3-2 after the first 2 minutes. Penalties nagged the Terriers again in the 3rd and they eventually fell behind 5-2. After a timeout Thomas battled hard and with just over 2 minutes remaining Ryan Kapplemann fired home a rebound from Cam Bigelow.
Shortly after the Terriers pulled goaltender Gaston Fuksa and despite numerous chances they could not cut into the lead and Dartmouth eventually scored the empty goal.
Goaltender Gaston Fuksa was credited with 41 saves, and very solid in goal.

The Terriers have a quick turnaround as they host University of New England Sunday at 5:30 PM at the Ice Vault in Augusta, ME.
