HALLOWELL, Maine - Thomas ice hockey won their second straight game Tuesday night when they defeated CMCC 5-4 at the Ice Vault.
The Mustangs opened the scoring half way through the first period with a goal by Crewz Berry. The Terriers answered seven minutes later when newcomer
Zach Whitney (Chelsea, Maine) found the back of the net on a power-play goal.
Thomas scored the only goal in the second period when Heywood put another power-play goal past Noah Bird to take a 2-1 lead. Terriers' goalie
Miloslav Fuksa (Czech Republic) made some terrific saves in the second period to keep the one goal lead.
The third period saw a flurry of goals by both teams. Thomas opened the period with three straight goals in the first six minutes.
Rajhan Munnings (Providenciales, Turks and Caicos) scored first on the power play,
Darren Cagnina (South Berwick, Maine) added a shorthanded goal and Whitney got his second goal of the night.
The Terriers had a commanding four goal lead with less than seven minutes to play but Mustangs refused to give up, scoring three straight goals of their own. CMCC pulled their goalie late in the third period but Fuksa stayed strong in the net and Thomas came away with the win.
The Terriers and Mustangs will face off again on Thursday night at 6 pm, this time at Norway Savings Bank Arena, with puck drop scheduled for 6 p.m.
