BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College fell to Husson in games one and two of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Championship on Sunday. The Eagles clinched the NAC East Title with the two victories.
GAME 1 – Husson 5, Thomas 1
Thomas struck first to take the early lead, with
Madison Rock (Bridgton, Maine) hitting an RBI double to bring
Bailey Dunphy (North Anson, Maine) in to score. Husson quickly answered in the bottom half of the inning to tie it 1-1. The Eagles pulled ahead in the third, then added three more in the fifth to seal the 5-1 victory.
Claudia Migliaccio (Brooklyn, N.Y.) took the loss, allowing two earned runs on six hits in 2.1 innings of work.
Kelsey Currier (Cumberland, Maine) pitched 3.2 innings of relief, allowing three runs, all unearned, on three hits while striking out seven.
GAME 2 – Husson 4, Thomas 2
After a scoreless two innings, Husson got on the board with a run in the top of the third. The score would stay 1-0 until the seventh, where the Eagles tacked on three crucial insurance runs. Thomas was able to get two across in the bottom of the seventh with and two-run single by
MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.). They could not get another two around, however, and fell 4-2.
Currier took the loss in the circle, giving up two earned runs on nine hits and striking out 5 in seven innings.
