WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's lacrosse team fell to UMaine-Farmington 12-7 in a North Atlantic Conference contest on Saturday at Smith Field.
The Beavers took the first three goals of the game before
Autumn Howe (Merrimack, N.H.) ended the drought with a goal at the 17:15 mark.
Mackenzie Driscoll (North Andover, Mass.) followed at the nine-minute mark to narrow the lead to 3-2. UMF scored two more over the following three minutes, but
Nikki Bradstreet (Topsham, Maine) answered with 3:20 left in the half to make it 5-3. The Beavers got another on the board late in the period to take a 6-3 lead at the break.
After a seven-minutes scoreless streak by both teams, UMF put one on the board at the 23:10 mark to go up 7-4. Howe got her second of the game three minutes later, but the Beavers answered back to hold their lead. Goals by Driscoll and
Lauren Bartlett (Wells, Maine) got Thomas within two at 8-6. A final goal by Driscoll was not enough as the Beavers moved on with the 12-7 victory.
Arianna Cannistraro (Waltham, Mass.) took the loss in goal for Thomas, allowing eight goals on 10 shots.
Elizabeth Gotay (Guilderland, N.Y.) also saw her first action in net of the season, allowing four goal on six shots.
