BANGOR, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team fell to Husson 96-60 in their season opener on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles scored seven unanswered in the first two and a half minutes, but Thomas chipped away to narrow the lead to 14-11 with 13:02 left in the first half. Husson went on a 14-3 run over the next five minutes to extend their lead up to 28-14. The Eagles held the Terriers off through the remainder of the period to take a 45-28 lead into the break.
Husson pushed their lead up to 30 by the midway point of the second, thanks to a 24-11 run to start the second half. The Eagles kept their distance, extending the lead to as much as 40, before taking the 96-60 win.
Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) led Thomas with 17 points, while
Alec Byron (Farmingdale, Maine) chipped in 13 points.
Lokiron Anda (Portland, Maine) led the team with 8 rebounds and added 10 points.
Thomas will travel to Maine Maritime Academy on Saturday, March 6 for a 1:00 PM contest.
