PURCHASE, N.Y. - Field Hockey (8-8) capped off their regular season with a 3-0 shutout win over Manhattanville. Thomas will look to take their momentum from the regular season into next weekend's New England Collegiate Conference Championship.
The Terriers dominated the offensive play from the start but the Valiant's defense stood their ground allowing no goals in the first quarter despite facing 10 penalty corners.
Thomas was able to find the back of the cage at 22:43 with a goal by senior
Lindsey Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine), beautifully set up by
Kayci Faulkingham (Belfast, Maine). Manhattanville tightened their defense up again after the goal, not allowing the Terriers to score again in the half despite ample opportunities.
Thomas kept up the high pace offensive pressure against Manhattanville in the second half and it paid off early in the third quarter.
Britney Gregoire (Kennebunk, Maine) scored at 36:11 with an assist by her sister
Lindsey Gregoire. The goal was Britney's team leading 17th goal of the season.
First year
Logan Alexander added an insurance goal just 35 seconds into the fourth quarter off an assist from another first year
Grace Slenker.
Thomas will await to hear who and when they play in the NECC Championship Semifinals on Saturday.
