Box Score GORHAM, Maine – The Thomas College field hockey team defeated the University of Southern Maine 1-0 in a non-conference game on Sunday afternoon.
The Terriers notched their goal in the 25th minute, when Desiree Wante (Poland, Maine) collected a rebound and slammed home her first career goal and the game-winner to give Thomas the 1-0 win.
Thomas was outshot 9-8 but held an 8-3 lead in penalty corners.
MacKenzie Oberholzer (Hancock, Md.) earned her first win of the season with a four-save shutout for Thomas. Lindsay Pych took the loss, allowing a goal on five shots.
Thomas will visit Bates for a non-conference game on Thursday, September 19 at 7:00 PM.
