Box Score FARMINGTON, Maine – The Thomas College men's basketball team defeated UMaine-Farmington 78-74 on Saturday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference (NAC) game.
The Beavers jumped out to an early lead, holding a 17-7 advantage six minutes in. The UMF lead continued to mount through the middle part of the first with the hosts up 33-16 at the 8:15 mark. Thomas turned it on to close out the half, going on a 24-8 run to narrow the UMF lead to 41-40 at the break.
The teams traded the lead throughout the second half, with the Beavers holding a 72-71 edge with just over three to go. A Tyler Nixon (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) layup with 2:47 remaining regained the lead for Thomas that they would not surrender, as they took the 78-74 victory.
Zach Mackinnon (Kennebunk, Maine) led the Terriers with 20 points on 6-of-8 shooting from three-point range. Demetris Webster (Port St. Lucie, Fla.) chipped in 13 points, while Patrik Lubin (Orlando, Fla.) pulled in a team-high nine rebounds.
