WATERVILLE, Maine – The Thomas College women's tennis team fell in their season opener, 8-1, on Friday afternoon at the University of Southern Maine.

The Terriers now sit at 0-1 in the new season as the Huskies move to 1-0.

The Huskies took all three doubles matches as Olivia Mora (Surry, Maine) and Irune Arruti Moreno dropped a close match, 8-5, on the number one line while Alexis Raymond and Sadie Farrand fell 8-1 in number two doubles.

In singles action, Mora fell just short in the top match 7-6(8-6), 6-4 while Moreno earned the lone win on the number two line 6-4, 6-2.  In number three singles, Raymond dropped a 6-0, 6-3 match and Farrand fell 6-1, 6-3 in fours.

The Terriers will sit idle until Saturday, September 9 as they travel to Husson for an 11:00 a.m. match.
